About EACO

EACO Board

The Board is the highest decision making organ of EACO and shall hold two (2) ordinary meetings in each financial year and may hold special meetings as and when necessary. The EACO Board is composed of the Chief Executive Officers of the Members. The Chairperson of the Board is elected by EACO Members from amongst Chief Executive Officers of Regulators of the Member States and the election shall have due regard to the principle of rotation. The current Chairman of the Board is Dr. Samuel Muhizi, the Director General of ARCT, Burundi.

The East African Communications Organization (EACO) is a regional organization that brings together national ICT regulators, operators, services providers (in the telecommunication, broadcasting and postal sub-sectors) ICT training institutions and other stakeholders in the communication sector within Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The broad objective of EACO which was established in 2000 is to strengthen and promote cooperation among the seven EAC Countries in the development and provision of postal, telecommunication and broadcasting services in East Africa and Headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda.
