EACO Secretariat Visits the Ministry of ICT - Rwanda
The courtesy visit by EACO Secretariat to the Ministry of ICT(MiTEC) - Rwanda July, 19th 2018 to discuss EACO activities and achievements the developments in the ICT sector and ICT projects and Programs in the EAC region. The Minister Hon. Jean de Dieu RURANGIRWA assured the EACO Secretary of his support.

East African Countries To Promote Effective E-Waste Management
An Eastern Africa regional workshop on e-waste management kicked off on Monday in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, to discuss effective electronic waste management.
The three-day event is organised by the East African Communications Organisation (EACO), the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) and an environmental organisation, Enviroserve Rwanda.

Peter Munya, Cabinet Secretary, East African Community and Northern Corridor Development in the Government of Kenya on the sidelines of the ITU Capacity Building Workshop on Digital broadcasting Technologies and the 3rd Annual Sub-Sahara spectrum Management Conference from 6th - 9th 2018 at Nairobi Kenya.
Today 23rd January 2018 Executive Secretary Dr. Ally Simba met with PAPU Secretary General YOUNOUSS DJIBRINE at his office in Arusha. The two leaders discussed issues of common interest, including expanding cooperation between PAPU and EACO.
Dr. Ally Y. Simba is the Executive Secretary of the East African Communications Organisation (EACO). He was appointed to the position on 1st August 2017 for a period of four years. Prior to his appointment he had served as a Director of Knowledge Management with the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH). He has more than 16 years of experience in communication industry where he has worked as an Engineer with a mobile phone operator, as a researcher, as regulator, and as policy maker with the central government of the United Republic of Tanzania.
It has been a singular honor for me to become not only a member of EACO but also
more so to now being trusted to lead the “Team of achievers” of the EACO ecosystem. I would like to
thank my colleagues at the EACO Secretariat, EACO members at large and all our affiliates for making
EACO continue to grow in leaps and bounds as its visibility now going global within just five years
since its inception back in 2012....
The East African Communications Organization (EACO) is a regional organization that brings together
national ICT regulators, operators, services providers (in the telecommunication, broadcasting and
postal sub-sectors) ICT training institutions and other stakeholders in the communication sector within
Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The broad objective of EACO which was
established in 2000 is to strengthen and promote cooperation among the six EAC Countries in the
development and provision of postal, telecommunication and broadcasting services in East Africa and
Headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda.
